Let's talk about me...

An Upstate New Yorkian, born in Syracuse, raised in Albany, schooled in California, frozen in Minnesota, thawed and residing once again in the Capital District area of NY.

I first became aware of music in the 60s with the Beatles, Beach Boys and Herman's Hermits. Fleetwood Mac's 1975 "Fleetwood Mac" album raised my level of awareness. A Jackson Browne concert, Labor Day weekend of 1977 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, changed me inalterably.

Influenced by the skillfully crafted lyrics and melodies of the above mentioned musicians, plus James Taylor, CSN&Y, Eagles, Poco, Loggins & Messina, Pure Prairie League, and others, too numerous to mention, I aspire to their level of musicianship.

So far, my journey has taken me to SUNY Potsdam in '78-'79, The Musicians Institute in '81-'82. Next came a stint at Schmitt Music in Burnsville, Minnesota, teaching group and private acoustic, electric guitar and banjo. It was there that I finally learned how to play and sing a complete song, and started to overcome the life-long consequences of guitar method books. 1987 was the official launch of my music career, teaching guitar at the now defunct, Only Guitar Shop, in Clifton Park, NY and performing with duos Doubleneck, One Heart, a trio called Straight From Suburbia, and finally, solo. My 15 minutes of fame (literally, 15 minutes) was warming up for Pat Benatar and Hall & Oates at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center with the duo One Heart.

1996-2013 I played occasional gigs with a sometimes Irish, sometimes Christian, folk, country, pop group called The McFubars, which, BTW, is the best name for an Irish drinking band, ever, period. The name aptly describes the music and the camaraderie.

2014 brought the formation of d4a (Desperate For Attention) for a one, and done, St. Patrick's Day gig at the Cock'n'Bull in Galway, NY. Great musicians, and surprisingly a good performance (considering how little rehearsal time we had).

2019 brings the challenge of  recording my original songs, one-at-a-time and posting online for all the world to hear. Please download my current tracks, and freely distribute to any and all that may enjoy them. If you enjoy my music and are feeling charitable, donate towards my continuing songwriting and recording efforts.
